Callaway County was among the state’s best for turkeys harvested by youth hunters this past weekend, according to preliminary statistics from the Missouri Department of Conservation.
Callaway ranked third in the state with 68 birds checked, including 46 adult gobblers, 20 juvenile gobblers and two bearded hens. Miller was the top harvest county with 73 birds checked, followed by Texas County second with 71.
Youth hunters checked in a total of 2,777 turkeys across the state this past weekend, according to MDC numbers.
