Callaway County 4-Hers are working to feed the hungry.

The Callaway County 4-H clubs will be participating in the statewide 4-H Feeding Missouri campaign through April 30.

Members are collecting food and monetary donations that will benefit the community through SERVE, Inc.

Food donations can be given to individual 4-H members or dropped off at the Callaway County MU Extension office at 5803 County Road 302 in Fulton.

Monetary donations can be passed on to 4-H members or given remotely at givebutter.com/4H or by texting 4H to 202-858-1233.

Though Callaway County 4-H did not do a county-wide campaign last year, individual 4-H clubs did participate in the campaign.

Leah Baker - leader of the Rising Sun 4-H Club - said the club collected 100 pounds of food last year.

"This is the first year for us to do it county-wide and to have a virtual/online campaign which SERVE set up for us," Baker said.

Every year, 4-H clubs across Missouri participate in Feeding Missouri projects.

"Supporting 4-H Feeding Missouri and the Drive to Feed Kids provides you with the opportunity to bring hope to thousands of Missouri communities by providing meals during this difficult time," Lupita Fabregas, director of the University of Missouri 4-H Center for Youth Development, said in a news release.

The statewide goal is to collect 500,000 meals as counties compete to see who can contribute the most food, cash and volunteer hours.

"We can't wait to see the energy, enthusiasm and passion Missouri 4-H members pour into 4-H Feeding Missouri and our shared goal of reducing food insecurity," Missouri Farmers Care Executive Director Ashley McCarty said.
