Fulton tow truck driver dies from March injuries

Fulton tow truck driver Ryan Brewer, 25, died Thursday at University Hospital in Columbia as a result of injuries he received during a March 29 crash on Interstate 70.

Brewer was attaching a wench to tow a vehicle driven by Cameron Olson, 33, of Fulton, when he was struck.

Matthew Link, 32, of Chesterfield, was driving westbound on I-70 near Kingdom City at 6:05 p.m. March 29 when his vehicle travelled onto the shoulder and struck the rear of the vehicle Brewer was loading.

Brewer was airlifted by MU Air to University Hospital and eventually succumbed to his injuries.

"Let this be a reminder of the dangers our tow truck operators around Callaway County face everyday," Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism wrote in a Facebook post expressing his condolences. "The dedication these men and women show working alongside our emergency responders to assist motorists and work crash scenes is unmatched."
