It's coming a bit late, but the Callaway Chamber of Commerce's annual Banquet is still on for 2021.
Usually held in January, the event is now scheduled for May 5.
"We pushed it out until May to see how this year went," Callaway Chamber of Commerce marketing and special events coordinator Justis Smith said.
Nominations for annual awards are due Monday.
The J.H. Atkinson Award dates back to 1967 and honors local leader Jack Atkinson. To qualify for the award, nominees must be county residents who have made a unique social, civic, political or aesthetic contribution to the community not common to their vocational careers.
The award can recognize organizations that have made marked contributions other than routine projects or activities.
The contribution must be voluntary with no financial remuneration to the individual and must serve the total community.
Last year, former judge, attorney and state Rep. Joe Holt received the J.H. Atkinson award for his board service and charitable efforts around town to SERVE, the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society and the Kingdom Supper.
The Loyal Subject Award is similar but with less restrictions. A Loyal Subject's contribution can be related to their vocational career. Similarly, there is no financial remuneration restriction.
Loyal Subject awardees should contribute to the benefit of Fulton or Callaway County, showing their love and commitment to the area. Last year, the award went to Gary Tateosian for his contributions to the chamber.
The Allen Conner Youth Award recognizes a high school student or youth organization for their service and dedication to the community.
The chamber will also recognize one small business and one large business of the year. The New Bloomfield FFA received the award last year for supporting a member after a car crash, picking up trash along roads and collecting worn flags.
Attendance at the banquet will be limited due to the pandemic.
