After 12 years in downtown Fulton, RCW Gifts & Tack is closing.

The last day of business for the horse and tack shop, antique and New England gift store, and seasonal Christmas tree spot will be Saturday.

"It's been great," owner Caitlin Wentworth said. "It hasn't been without its challenges."

Daughter-father team Caitlin and Reuben Wentworth opened the shop in 2008, with Caitlin operating the shop in Fulton and Reuben living in New Hampshire, where the shop collected gift items from New England. The store has been a family effort - Caitlin Wentworth said her daughter has grown up in the store.

Until doors close, all items excluding consignments will be on sale for 50 percent off.

"I came into the community not really knowing a lot of people, and I feel like I have made a lot of friends," Caitlin Wentworth said. "I've had mentors in the Brick District who have really taken me under their wing."

Caitlin Wentworth said she's heard from customers and community members sharing their support since they announced the store closure.

For more than a decade, RCW has served William Woods University students and the local equestrian community. Over the years, the business has sponsored horse shows and fundraisers, supporting local horse clubs and community causes.

"I learned that the community is really what makes your business thrive," Caitlin Wentworth said. "We're very fortunate to have a very encouraging community and a welcoming community."

The Wentworths aren't yet sure whether a new business might move into the space.

"She's done a fabulous job for the 12 years, and she made a very good go at it," Reuben Wentworth said.

Reuben Wentworth praised his daughter on her work with the business. The decision to close the business was a personal one as Caitlin pursues a new opportunity, Reuben Wentworth said.

"She's going to miss it, and I'm going to miss it," he said.
