New Bloomfield school board to hold September meeting

The New Bloomfield R-3 School District Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. today in the central office meeting room.

The agenda includes several COVID-19-related items.

Each month, the board reviews community usage of district building and facilities and spectator restrictions at extracurricular activities and athletic events. The board will also hear an update on cases in the district.

The board will consider an agreement with the School District of Springfield, R-12, regarding the online Launch program.

In his monthly report to the board, Middle School/High School Principal Paul Cloudwright outlined some of the ways teachers have addressed an educational gaps resulting from last year's closures.

According to the report from Superintendent Sarah Wisdom, the district has received a little over $88,000 so far in grant awards related to COVID-19 purchases.

The board will also hear about the results of a parent survey on student internet access.

Also on the agenda is a final reading of the board manual, a discussion of a contract with a orientation and mobility specialist and a program report about alternative school.

Last year, 13 students participated in alternative school including seven students who graduated, two who have returned to the program, three who have gone virtual, and one who is not returning or has moved to homeschool.
