North Callaway school board to meet Thursday

KINGDOM CITY, Mo. - The agenda for Thursday's North Callaway Board of Education meeting promises a routine evening.

The meeting is scheduled for 7 p.m. at North Callaway Middle School and is open to the public.

Early in the meeting, North Callaway Middle School principal Jessica Huyser and vice principal Erikka Brown will present an update on the school and introduce staff. This is NCMS's first year in existence - previously, the building housed Auxvasse Elementary School.

Kelli Swearingen, a physical education teacher at North Callaway Middle School, will tell attendees about "Donors Choose," a crowdfunding platform that aids public school teachers in raising money for classroom projects.

Other portions of the meeting focus on money: routine updates on maintenance, approval of bills and the approval of a payment of $40,950 in student tuition fees to Hart Career Center (Mexico Vo-Tech).

The agenda also includes several COVID-19-related items, including discussion of COVID-19 funds and the pandemic's impact on the basketball program.

Board members will also hear about LJ Heart and Company, a bond underwriting firm that has worked with the district on bond issues since 1995.
