The second individual involved in a May vehicle chase was sentenced Monday.

Drew Adam Pierce, of Lincoln, Nebraska, was sentenced to four years in prison for resisting arrest, seven years for tampering with a motor vehicle, seven years for second-degree assault and seven years for second-degree burglary.

Last Monday, Ronnie Lloyd, of Fulton, was sentenced for her role in the events.

Lloyd was behind the wheel of a vehicle with Pierce as a passenger when she was stopped for speeding May 18 on U.S. 54. Lloyd refused to stop, fleeing and striking another vehicle.

As law enforcement followed, Lloyd and Pierce managed to switch positions so Pierce was driving.

The chase weaved through the county, with Pierce reaching high speeds, passing other motorists, braking suddenly and driving off the roadway to evade spike strips laid out by officers.

When police managed to box in the vehicle, Pierce struck a Fulton police officer with his vehicle. The officer was propelled over the hood and roof of the car and left with moderate injuries.

Eventually, Pierce and Lloyd abandoned the vehicle.

They were found hours after the chase began hiding in a shed in the Route F area without the consent of the property owner.

Authorities learned the vehicle Lloyd and Pierce had driven had been reported stolen in Nebraska.

The injured police officer was able to return to duty about 10 days after the incident.

Pierce and Lloyd were arrested. Pierce eventually pleaded guilty to charges of resisting arrest, tampering with a motor vehicle, assault and burglary. Lloyd pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident, resisting arrest and burglary.

According to a record of court activity from Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Christopher Wilson, Pierce apologized to the officer who was injured and the officer was satisfied with the sentences imposed on Pierce.

Pierce must serve at least 85 percent of the seven-year sentence for an assault against law enforcement, under state law.

Pierce's restitution hearing is scheduled at 1:30 p.m Oct. 26.
