After six weeks of exploring the county and learning about local history, 45 teams have completed the Callaway 200 Scavenger Hunt.

"I hope everyone had fun, and perhaps you saw some new points of interest," organizer Kelly Borman said.

A joint effort by the Callaway 200 Committee and the Kingdom of Callaway Historical Society, the scavenger hunt highlighted 20 historic locations spread all over the county, from the northeast to the southwest. Stops included everything from churches to graveyards, battle sites to recreation areas. The historical society helped choose the stops.

Participants were asked to take selfies at each site and share them to the scavenger hunt's Facebook page. Those who completed the entire hunt were entered into a drawing to receive special Callaway 200 tumblers donated by B-Line Engraving.

The winner was drawn during the Bicentennial Monument unveiling ceremony Wednesday morning at the Callaway County Courthouse. Kimberly Burgess of Williamsburg took home the grand prize.

A second drawing Wednesday chose the winner of a custom, Callaway County-themed Henry 30-30 rifle. That raffle benefited Callaway 200's ongoing fundraising efforts to provide bicentennial events in 2021. Wesley Campbell of Fulton won the gun.

Borman revealed she's planning a scavenger hunt to celebrate Missouri's 200th birthday in 2021.

"I want to have stops in every county that touches us," she said. "This monument will have to be one of them, of course."

In addition to the 45 teams and individuals who visited all 20 locations, an additional nine teams visited at least one stop, Borman said.
