The New Bloomfield Board of Aldermen met Monday to discuss several bills and resolutions related to elections and the city's snow and ice contract.

Some of the agenda items were scheduled to be discussed last month, but the October meeting was canceled.

The board approved an ordinance calling for a municipal election April 6. Two seats on the four-member Board of Aldermen will be up for election. Anyone seeking election can file with New Bloomfield City Clerk Jenna Boulger starting Dec. 15. The filing deadline is Jan. 20.

Currently, Rosemary Augustine, Gary Hoelscher, Dan Kliethermes and Michael Lowe Sr. serve on the board. Lowe and Kliethermes are up for re-election.

Aldermen serve two-year terms, adopting ordinances and resolutions and determining the goals and policies of the city.

In other business, the board voted to renew its snow and ice removal contract with Roettgen Excavating . The company took care of New Bloomfield roadways last winter.

The board also approved a change order in the street and stormwater improvement contract with Christensen Construction Co.

The change order outlines variations between the originally planned work and the actual costs as the project has progressed, including edge milling on Joshua Street ahead of asphalt overlay, culvert work and encasing an Elm Avenue sewer line in concrete.

The board's next meeting is scheduled Dec. 10. During the meeting, the board plans to consider moving regular monthly meetings from Monday to Thursday to better accommodate members' schedules.
