Recognized as a professor who goes "above and beyond for students" while "displaying a passion unlike anything I have seen in the subjects taught," Dr. Kim Keller was chosen by students at William Woods University as this year's distinguished professor.
Keller, associate professor of biology, received the 2020 Louis D. Beaumont Dad's Association Distinguished Professor of the Year Award as part of the university's year-end academic honors. The award carries an honorarium and is presented annually to a faculty member who has displayed dedication to teaching. Recipients of the award are nominated and chosen by students.
One student said Keller will have "made the most impact on my life, my degree, and my choice of career once I graduate."
Keller was also praised by a student as someone who "truly cares about students and works hard to ensure our success. I am forever thankful for the impact this professor has had on my life."
Another added Keller "understands we are experiencing life as well, and incorporates that within the teaching. We learn what we are passionate about, not just the class's curriculum."
Prior to joining the faculty at William Woods in 2013, Keller received both her doctorate and master's degrees in biological sciences from Bowling Green University, and a Bachelor of Science in biology from Wilmington College of Ohio. She currently teaches biology, biochemistry, cell and molecular biology, genetics and microbiology at WWU.
