Gov. Parson appoints Western District Appeals judge

Gov. Mike Parson has appointed a new judge to the state appeals court district that has jurisdiction over much of Mid-Missouri.

Parson appointed Judge W. Doug Thomson to the Western District of the Missouri Court of Appeals.

Thomson will succeed Judge Victor C. Howard, who retired in November 2019, according to a news release from Parson's office.

Thomson is a native of Maryville, earned a degree in finance from Missouri State University and earned a law degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

He is a member of the Missouri Bar Board of Governors and Missouri Association of Probate and Associate Circuit Judges. He is also active in his church and local Lions Club.

The Western District of the state appeals court has jurisdiction over counties including Boone, Callaway, Cole, Miller, Moniteau and Morgan.
