State Technical College of Missouri in Linn will not have any on-campus classes this week, and online classes will start March 30.

The decision was made as a result of the social distancing mandate issued Saturday by Gov. Mike Parson and on guidance received Sunday from the Missouri Department of Higher Education and Workforce Development, according to a post  to the college's website.

"We have not made a decision about on-campus classes the following week, but the likelihood seems to be decreasing. Auxiliary services such as student housing, food service and the Activity Center will remain open with social distancing rules in effect," State Tech spokesman Brandon McElwain said Monday.

"We expect a number of students will move from on-campus housing and the Linn area this week," the school's post noted.

State Tech also encouraged employees to work from home if they can.

"If you come to campus, please have a plan in place to work from home if travel restrictions are put into place, as this seems to be becoming more likely. This plan should include everything you need to work from home in a box at the end of each work day. Please clearly label everything you need to work from home. This will allow us to bring your belongings to your vehicle should a point come when you don't feel comfortable on campus or we don't feel comfortable having you on campus as a result of a possible exposure," the school's post stated.
