Health department announces 8 new Callaway County cases

The Callaway County Health Department announced four additional COVID-19 cases Wednesday evening and another four Thursday, bringing the county's total known cases of the disease to 52.

Of those cases, 15 are still active. Thirty-six individuals have recovered and one has died.

COVID-19 is still in the community so caution should be used when in large groups, the department said. Masks do provide some protection. Cole County has announced free testing from 7 a.m.-7 p.m. July 7-9 at 1616 Industrial Drive Jefferson City. Registration can be done online at health.mo.gov/communitytest.

The department encourages area residents to stay safe over the Fourth of July weekend and stay home if they have symptoms. COVID-19 symptoms can include a fever, cough, shortness of breath, loss of taste or smell, headache, a sore throat, fatigue and more. Some infected individuals show no symptoms.
