Candidate filing for numerous April 7 elections across the county closed at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Fulton City Clerk Courtney Crowson said all four City of Fulton council members who were up for re-election have filed as candidates.

These include Ward 1's Ballard Simmons, Ward 2's Mary Rehklau, Ward 3's John Braun and Ward 4's Steve Moore. In addition, Bob Washington has filed to run for Ward 4. The candidates in the first three wards are unopposed.

In Holts Summit, Mayor Landon Oxley has filed for re-election and faces no opponents. There's one candidate for each of the alderman seats, too: Incumbent Sharon Schlueter, of Ward 1, and newcomer Susan Sundermeyer, of Ward 2.

In Auxvasse, South Ward incumbent Bret Barnes is running for another two-year term, as is North Ward incumbent Gary Westerman. Both are unopposed.

Kingdom City's Board of Trustees had three open seats. The three incumbents - William Shults, chairman Donald Thompson and Linda VanEngelenhoven Diluvio - have all filed to run again and are unopposed.

In New Bloomfield, the mayorship and two alderman positions were up. Those include Mayor Terry Shaw's position and those of Gary Hoelscher (Ward 1) and Rosemary Augustine (Ward 2). All three filed for re-election and are unopposed. In 2015, New Bloomfield voters passed a ballot measure that allows the city to forgo municipal elections when the number of candidates who have filed is equal to the number of positions to be filled - a condition that has been met for the April 7 election.

However, New Bloomfield City Clerk Jenna Boulger pointed out, the city may hold a vote on a sales tax issue.

Mokane is electing a mayor and four aldermen, but the Mokane city clerk could not be reached Wednesday for comment on candidates.

Nominations for other races, including several school board races, are still trickling into the Callaway County clerk's office. The deadline to certify candidates for all April 7 elections is Jan. 28.
