The New Bloomfield Board of Education is nearing a vote on a switch to four-day weeks.

Board members will meet at 6 p.m. tonight at New Bloomfield High School. The 2020-21 calendar is one of the issues on the agenda.

District Superintendent Sarah Wisdom said the cost-saving change could help New Bloomfield retain teachers and compete with higher-paying districts. Members of the calendar committee first introduced the idea before the November board meeting.

If passed, New Bloomfield students will have class from 7:50 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday.

The board will also hear the second read of revised policies from the Missouri School Boards' Association and receive reports on curriculum, special education and the district's Title I program.
