Sheriff's office makes 2 drug paraphernalia arrests

Two traffic stops conducted by Callaway County Sheriff's Office deputies led to arrests Monday.

A deputy patrolling at about 3:30 p.m. County Road 338 near New Bloomfield attempted to stop William Kirk, of New Bloomfield, for a traffic offense.

Kirk, 44, fled the deputy and a brief pursuit ensued, according to the arrest report. The deputy successfully arrested Kirk and discovered meth-related drug paraphernalia in his possession.

Kirk was taken to the Callaway County Jail for resisting arrest, failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, tampering with physical evidence, possession of drug paraphernalia and traffic-related offenses. He has since posted a $3,000 bond.

A deputy traveling through Fulton at 3:03 p.m. stopped a vehicle near the intersection of Tucker Lane and Nichols Street. During the stop, the driver was identified as Jeffrey Manion, 48. The Fulton man was wanted on three Callaway County felony warrants for probation violations involving possession of a controlled substance.

Manion was arrested and found to be in possession of drug paraphernalia, according to the CCSO arrest report. He was taken to the Callaway County Jail to be held on a $30,000 cash bond.
