Sneller Auto & Diesel Repair hosted its ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday morning at its new Fulton location.

The family-owned operation opened its first location in Holts Summit in 2013. The Fulton location has been open since Jan. 2.

"It's been good, surprisingly; there's been quite a few people stopping in and we're doing work," said Requitta Sneller, who owns the business with her husband, Randy Sneller.

The previously vacant building on 1230 Business 54 South seemed like a prime location for the Snellers, who were looking to expand.

"We knew this had been open for a while, and I kept tossing around, do I do it? Do I not do it? And we finally just came to an agreement - let's do it," Randy said.

"It's been empty, so this is wonderful to have a new business here in Fulton in this building," Callaway Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Tamara Tateosian said.

With the Chamber of Commerce gathered in the lobby to welcome the new business to Fulton, Randy's mother, Penni Sneller, took a moment to say a few words about her son and his business.

"He has tinkered inside a motor since he was 2," Penni said. "And that's just the way he's been."

Randy got his first look inside a car as a child with his father, Kevin Sneller, and uncle, Mark Sneller, when the two used to race cars.

"Everything his dad would do - change the tires - he had to be there," Penni said.

When he was 13, Randy began restoring a 1966 Ford Mustang.

"I came across this car, saw it needed a lot of work, and my dad said, 'We can do this,' and we did it," Randy said.

He worked five paper routes to afford parts, Penni said.

"There isn't much that we won't do," Requitta said. "He's had tractors, lawnmowers, everything in here. He will give it a try."
