On Feb. 12, the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney charged Jerry Bateman, 42, of Holts Summit, and Amanda Rathburn, 28, of Jefferson City, with the felony offense of interference with custody (removed from state or concealed).

The child was ultimately found safe in Johnson County by authorities there. Bateman and Rathburn were also located and arrested in Johnson County.

Callaway County investigators traveled there and took custody of the pair. Both were booked at the Callaway County Jail and placed on a $5,000 bond. Bateman later posted bond and was released. Rathburn remained in custody Tuesday.
