FAYETTE, Mo. - Carmen Flaugher was recently awarded a scholarship to Central Methodist University through the annual "Central's Got Talent" competition.

Vocalists and musicians from across the state vied for the grand prize scholarships, performing one piece of their choosing from the areas of vocal performance, instrumental and praise band. All participants went home with scholarships of varying values.

Flaugher, of Fulton High School, was one of 22 competitors in the day-long event, which saw an abundance of talent on display. Flaugher, who plans to major in music education, participated in the choir area of the competition as an alto.

"Throughout the day we were continually impressed by all the wonderful musicians who were performing for us," said Dori Waggoner, chair of CMU's division of fine arts. "We are looking forward to having all these students join the CMU Music community."

Central Methodist University, located in Fayette and founded in 1854, is a four-year, private, liberal arts university.
