To dodge lines at the Callaway County Courthouse, both county assessment forms and county taxes can be filed online or dropped in the drop-box outside the building.

County taxes are due Dec. 31 for those who lived in the county before March 1 of this year. Tax bills went out in mid-November and can be returned at or mailed to the Callaway County Courthouse in Fulton. They may also be viewed and paid at callawaycollector.com.

Tax statements should reflect what an individual owed as of Jan. 1, 2020. If there are errors, the taxpayer should contact the Callaway County Assessor's office at 573-642-0766.

Personal Property Tax Declarations - as the forms are formally known - are due March 1, 2021, and the returned forms should include a list of all taxable personal property assets owned Jan. 1 (such as vehicles and livestock). In mid-March, the assessor's office will send out reminder postcards. There's a grace period until April 30, after which anyone who still hasn't turned their form in must pay a late fee that will appear on their next tax bills.

Assessment forms may be mailed to the assessor's office in the Callaway County Courthouse. They can also be filed at the Callaway County Assessor's website, callaway.missouriassessors.com.

"We encourage you to please mail in or file online (instructions shown on assessment list) to help cut back the number of people in the office," wrote Assessor Jody Paschal in a public Facebook post in November.

To file online, visit the above website and look for the account and ePin numbers on your assessment list, enclosed with your 2020 Personal Property Tax Bill.

Paschal's office can be reached at 573-642-0766.

The Callaway County Courthouse will be closed Dec. 25. Access to the courthouse is currently limited during the ongoing pandemic.
