MOKANE - During tonight's meeting, the South Callaway Board of Education will review the updated re-entry plan for the district.

The meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the South Callaway High School auditorium (10135 Route C, Mokane) and is open to the public.

South Callaway R-2 released its re-entry plan to families July 27, a couple of weeks after the July board of education meeting.

The plan, available to view online at bit.ly/3jRuT8a, features a long list of precautions to be taken throughout the coming school year in the face of the ongoing pandemic. It also explains plans A, B, C and D. Plans A, B and C feature escalating safety measures while most students remain in class. Plan B requires wearing masks during "periods of movement," while under Plan C, students will rotate between distance learning and in-person classes.

Under Plan D, campus will close and all students will switch to distance learning.

The board will also review summer projects around campus, including a recently bid project to fix HVAC in and around the district's central office.

Board members will hear reports from various administrators and the state board of education.

On the consent agenda - to be approved simultaneously by a simple vote - are a list of substitutes for 2020-21 and a three-year expense comparison report. Between July 2019 and June 2020, the district incurred $10.9 million in expenses - less than in 2018-19 ($11.4 million) but more than in 2017-18 ($9.8 million).
