Troopers report 3 crashes, 6 arrests over weekend

The Missouri Highway Patrol reported six injuries in three separate Callaway County accidents over the weekend.

The patrol also reported a number of arrests.

The first accident occurred at 4:25 p.m. Saturday on County Road 389 just north of County Road 388. A 1997 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling south on the road when it took a curve too fast, drove off the road and overturned, according to the Troop F crash report.

Neither the driver nor three passengers were wearing seat belts, and all four were injured. Brandon Maresh, 25, of Jefferson City, was the driver; he received serious injuries. Troopers arrested Maresh for driving while intoxicated, driving while revoked, careless and imprudent driving, and driving without a seat belt but released him for medical treatment. He was transported by helicopter to University Hospital.

Passengers Mason Anderson, 23, of Holts Summit; Jaz Johnson, 25, of Jefferson City; and Stephanie Kerschner, 26, of Jefferson City, received only minor injuries and refused medical attention. The vehicle was totaled.

Troop F reported two crashes Sunday. The first occurred at 6 a.m. on westbound I-70, .6 miles west of Route J. While attempting to pass one vehicle and avoid another, Darriez Burse's 2004 Nissan Maxima traveled off the right side of the road, struck several signs and overturned before coming to a rest in the road.

Burse, 18, of Louisiana, Missouri, was not wearing a seat belt but received only minor injuries. He was taken by ambulance to University Hospital. His vehicle was totaled.

The second crash happened at 7:05 p.m. on Route F. Zachariah Keipp, 30, of Fulton, was driving west on his 2005 Harley Davidson when it traveled off the left side of the road and struck several trees, ejecting Keipp. Keipp, who was wearing a safety device, received moderate injuries and was transported by ambulance to University Hospital. His motorcycle was destroyed.

The Highway Patrol also reported arresting Keipp for driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, possession of marijuana and operating a motorcycle with an invalid license.

Arrests

Troop F reported four additional arrests within Callaway County on Saturday and Sunday.

Jose Euceda Moreno, 31, of Pigeon Forge, Tennessee, was arrested at 8:36 p.m. Saturday for driving while intoxicated (first offense), driving without a license and driving the wrong direction on the highway. He was taken to the Callaway County Jail but later released.

Jonathan Rhodenbaugh, 25, of Columbia, was arrested at 2:07 a.m. Sunday for driving while intoxicated (first offense).

Mark Bukhshtaber, 30, of St. Louis, was arrested at 1:25 p.m. Sunday for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of 11-35 grams of marijuana. He was released on summons.

Marki Pratt, 26, of Grandview, was arrested at 6:08 p.m. Sunday for careless and imprudent driving, driving without insurance, driving while suspended, driving while intoxicated, unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of marijuana (less than 10 grams), felony possession of a synthetic narcotic and felony possession of cocaine. She was taken to the Callaway County Jail and later released.
