Callaway County Sheriff's Office reports 5 felony arrests

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office has recorded four felony arrests over the last week, Lt. Curtis Hall said. Additionally, a man wanted in Callaway County for felonies has been arrested in Boone County.

At 8:46 a.m. Monday, a deputy was proactively patrolling the Kingdom City area. During the course of the patrol, the deputy conducted an investigative traffic stop in the 3000 block of County Road 211 in Kingdom City.

The deputy subsequently identified Shane Stone, 44, of Sturgeon, as a vehicle occupant. Stone was a wanted fugitive in Boone County for felony offenses of receiving stolen property. He was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail where he remains on a $9,000 bond.

At 11:54 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 7000 block of Silver Drive south of Fulton, where a vehicular theft had just been reported. Deputies quickly shared the vehicle description to nearby law enforcement agencies.

Soon after, a Missouri Highway Patrol trooper spotted the vehicle in Jefferson City and conducted a traffic stop. The trooper subsequently took Brian Hite, 37, of Warrenton, into custody. Hite was then transported to the Callaway County Jail for probable cause felony offenses of stealing a motor vehicle and stealing. He remains in-custody on $9,000 bond. The Jefferson City Police Department also assisted with the investigation.

At 8:16 p.m. Sunday, deputies responded to the 5000 block of Jade Road in Kingdom City following the report of an intentionally set fire. Deputies located Jonathan Liba, 43, of Fredericktown, on foot in the area. They determined Liba had purposefully burned personal property belonging to another person as the result of an illegal drug transaction that led to a dispute.

Liba was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail for probable cause felony offenses of arson, knowingly burning, and property damage. He was also processed for a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge. Liba is being held without bond, pending a bond review by the court. The North Callaway Fire Protection District assisted with the investigation.

At 4:12 p.m. Saturday, deputies conducted an investigation in the 1800 block of Stephanie Court near Kingdom City in search of Paula Cox, 53, of Auxvasse. Cox was wanted on a Callaway County failure to appear warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance. Deputies searched a residence and found Cox hiding in a shower. She was arrested and transported to the Callaway County Jail, where she later posted a $2,000 bond and was released pending court appearance.

As of Monday, Joseph Millar, 30, of Columbia, is being held in the Boone County Jail for Callaway County felony warrants for burglary and two counts of stealing. Millar also has active Boone County felony charges. The Callaway County felony charges are the result of an investigation conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office concerning a burglary offense in the 5000 block of Route J south of Millersburg in April. Warrant requests for other suspects involved have been referred to the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney. The investigation continues.
