Upcoming holiday events in Callaway County

A plethora of holiday-themed events are planned in Callaway County throughout December.

Check out the wide variety of things to do during the holiday season.

Dec. 1-7

The Fulton Festival of Lights Wish Tree lighting will be taking place at 5:30 p.m. Monday in Veterans Park. The Wish Tree will be turned on for everyone to see. Underneath the lighted tree, the Fulton High School Chamber Singers will entertain the crowd by singing Christmas carols.

On Dec. 5, there will be a chance to see Mr & Mrs. Santa Claus from 67 p.m. at the YMCA of Callaway County. Parents can bring their children to get their photo taken with Santa. Enjoy festive activities and games for the children as well. Free for all YMCA of Callaway County members and community members.

The 71st Jaycees Christmas Parade will take place at 1 p.m. Dec. 7 in downtown Fulton. This year's theme will be "A Season of Hope." This year, The Fulton Jaycees are honored for Wyatt Salmons to be Grand Marshall. Donations will be collected for Foster Adopt Connect of Callaway County this year in an effort to help disadvantaged children in Callaway County have a great Christmas. The entry fee is at least $20 in toys, or at least a $20 donation.

On Dec. 7, there will be a "Breakfast with Santa" from 9-11 a.m. at the Callaway Senior Center.

Enjoy breakfast and crafts with the children and get your picture taken with Santa. It is $10 for adults, $5 for children ages 4-12 and free for children 3 and younger.

On Dec. 7, the Court Street United Methodist Church will host the 2019 Christmas Bazaar: A Callaway Christmas from 8 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Enjoy comfort foods, crafts, baked goods, silent auction, Christmas and holiday items, gifts, wooden treasures, cookies by the pound and more. In honor of Callaway County's 200th anniversary, there will be a display of 200 cupcakes. The display is from 8-10 a.m., then cupcakes will be sold. People can buy their favorite year or a whole decade!

Dec. 8-15

The Festival of Lessons and Carols will take place Dec. 8 at the Church of St. Mary the Virgin, Aldermanbury. Doors will open at 4 p.m. and the service begins at 5 p.m.

The event is free and open to the public.

There will be a holiday craft show 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Dec. 8 at New Bloomfield Elementary in the school's gym. The Auxvasse Christmas parade will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 8. There will be floats, walking groups, banks, church groups, tractors, horses, elves and Santa. Bring a new toy to donate to the "toy drive" that will be donated to SERVE.

The 30th annual New Bloomfield Christmas parade will take place at 2 p.m. Dec. 8. The parade will be followed by visits with Santa from 4-6 p.m. and a tree lighting at 6 p.m.

The parade will start by the ballfields at New Bloomfield High School. This year's theme is "dreaming of a white Christmas."

On Dec. 12, there will be a Christmas sing-along 11 a.m.-12:05 p.m. at the National Churchill Museum. Everyone is welcome. The sing-along will begin at 11 a.m. in the church.

On Dec. 14, there will be "Santa Paws Photos" and a craft sale to support the Callaway County Humane Society from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at the John C. Harris Community Center.

Bring pets and children to get their photos taken with Santa. It is $5 for photos with Santa and $25 for pets to participate in the microchip clinic.

The Holts Summit Christmas parade will take place at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 14, followed by a tree lighting and child-friendly activities. The parade will start at 282 South Greenway Drive and finish at the plaza. This year's theme is "The Nightmare before Christmas."

The December Family Night Supper & Christmas program will take place 6-9 p.m. Dec. 15 at the Hams Prairie Church. The Church is providing turkey and ham.

Please bring a side dish and/or dessert to share.

Dec. 31

There will be a "Gatsby Gala" at the Brick District Playhouse on New Year's Eve. There will be a swing band from 7-10 p.m. and a DJ from 10 p.m.-1 a.m. There will be complimentary champagne at midnight and hors d'oeuvres served throughout the night. 1920's time period dress is encouraged. General admission will be $45 and VIP admission will be $65.
