Christmas is coming early to William Woods University as the university's theater department is getting ready to present a holiday treat for the entire community.
Beginning Thursday, the university's 2019-20 Mainstage Season Series will continue with "Twas The Night Before Christmas." This family play by Ken Ludwig offers a delightful twist to the Yule Tide classic. Performances will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday evening at 7:30 p.m., plus a matinée showing on Saturday at 2 p.m., all in Dulany Auditorium.
The opening night production of the play Thursday will be interpreted for the hearing-impaired members of the community. The play is open to audiences of all ages.
As the story famously begins: "Twas the night before Christmas, when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse." But wait - in this version of the classic tale, a mouse is stirring -because Santa missed his house last year. Before you can say "Merry Christmas!" we are off on a wild adventures with a mouse, an elf and a spunky little girl who just will not take no for an answer. The production is a joyful tribute to the holiday season and fun for all.
"Santa's elves are busy getting 'Twas The Night Before Christmas' ready for you," said Joe Potter, artistic director of the William Woods University Theatre Department. "It's a cute show wrapped up in a bow and suitable for the whole family. So be sure to join us."
