8 sex offenders indicted

The Callaway County Grand Jury indicted eight people June 13 for failure to register as a sex offender.

The indictments and subsequent charge filings were the result of several criminal investigations conducted by the Callaway County Sheriff's Office concerning various violations of state laws pertaining to the registration and verification of convicted sex offenders residing in Callaway County.

The Callaway County Sheriff's Office is statutorily responsible for the supervision of all registered sex offenders in the county, including those residing in the municipalities of Fulton and Holts Summit. As of Friday, there were 155 convicted sex offenders registered in Callaway County.

Douglas Jennings, 59, of Fulton; Frederick Lawson, 56, of Holts Summit; Brian Gravatt, 44, of Fulton; Caleb Jackson, 42, of Fulton; Darren Yancey, 31, of Fulton; Makayla Boutelle, 21, of Fulton; Anthony Hance, 36, of Fulton, were indicted for failure to register as a sex offender.

Jennings is currently incarcerated in the Missouri Department of Corrections for unrelated offenses.

Lawson was arrested by Callaway County deputies and transferred to the Callaway County Jail. As of Friday, Lawson remained in custody on $5,000 bond.

Prior to the indictment, Gravatt had been arrested by Callaway County deputies for the violation and the indictment replaced the initial charge.

Prior to the indictment, Jackson had been arrested by Callaway County deputies for the violation and the indictment replaced the initial charge. Jackson is currently incarcerated in the Missouri Department of Corrections for unrelated offenses.

Prior to the indictment, Yancey had been arrested by Callaway County deputies for the violation and the indictment replaced the initial charge.

Prior to the indictment, Boutelle was already incarcerated in the Callaway County Jail for unrelated offenses. Boutelle's bond was increased $5,000 to account for the indictment.

As of Friday, Hance was not in custody and a full extradition arrest warrant has been entered for Hance's arrest.

Craig Palmer, 28, of Jefferson City, was indicted for two counts of failure to register as a sex offender. Palmer was arrested in Jefferson City and transferred to the Callaway County Jail. Palmer posted a $5,000 bond and was released pending court appearance. The offenses occurred in the Holts Summit area.

Additionally, before the indictments were filed, Homer Allen, 32, of Williamsburg, was charged by the Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney with three counts of failure to register as a sex offender. Allen had previously been arrested by Callaway County deputies, posted bond, and later failed to appear in court. As of Friday, he was not in custody and a full extradition arrest warrant has been entered for Allen's arrest.
