Troop F investigator promoted

Darrin R. Haslag of the Missouri Highway Patrol has been promoted to sergeant, according to Capt. Paul D. Kerperin, director of the patrol's Division of Drug and Crime Control.

Haslag will remain in his present position as a criminal investigator, assigned to the Troop F Criminal Unit, in Jefferson City. Troop F covers Callaway Counties and farther afield.

Haslag was appointed to the patrol on May 16, 2002. Upon completing commercial vehicle officer training at the patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, he was assigned to work the Troop F area. In July 2005, Haslag was promoted to commercial vehicle officer supervisor, and remained assigned to Troop F. On July 1, 2008, he was appointed as a member of the 88th Recruit Class and began training to become a trooper. During his time as a recruit, he served as the 88th Recruit Class' vice commander and was the recipient of the Academic Award after earning the highest grade point average in the class.

After completing recruit training at the patrol's Law Enforcement Academy, Haslag was assigned to Troop F, Zone 2, Cole and Callaway counties. He was named as Troop F's Officer of the Year for his work as road trooper in 2011. On Sept. 1, 2013, Haslag transferred to the Division of Drug and Crime Control, General Headquarters, and was assigned as a criminal investigator with the Troop F Criminal Unit.

In May 2015, Haslag was named Department of Public Safety Employee of the Month. He was named the Division of Drug and Crime Control's Officer of the Year for 2015. On Dec. 9, 2016, he received the Anti-Defamation League's Distinguished Service Award recognizing law enforcement representatives who distinguish themselves in the investigation and/or prosecution of hate crime, bias, domestic or international terrorism, or in the protection of civil rights.

While serving in the Division of Drug and Crime Control, he has also worked as an investigator with the Rural Crimes Investigative Unit.

Haslag graduated from Blair Oaks High School in 1992. He earned an Associate of Arts in criminal justice, from Mineral Area Community College, in Park Hills in 2008. He graduated from Leadership in Police Organization training in April 2018.
