A Jefferson City man has been charged after he was arrested following a Jefferson City Police Department SWAT team operation Monday afternoon.

Noah Cohen, 23, is charged with one count of resisting arrest.

Cohen was found to have eight warrants for his arrest on a variety of charges out of Cole County and one Jefferson City municipal warrant.

Deputies were called to an apartment in the 5600 block of Collier Court to check the well-being of Cohen's girlfriend, according to a Cole County Sheriff's Department report. Cohen was believed to be in possession of a shotgun.

Authorities tried several times to get someone to answer the door, but no one did. They then evacuated surrounding apartments.

Deputies obtained a search warrant and called the SWAT team in to serve it, and that's when Cohen turned himself in at the back door of the apartment. His girlfriend was found safe.

Authorities found a loaded shotgun inside the apartment, and Cohen was found to be in possession of a shotgun shell. There also was furniture in front of the front door of the apartment.
