The famous dog case from South Callaway was on trial again Wednesday in the Circuit court. A fox hound was shot and blinded and had to be killed, while it was chasing a fox, according to the petition and suit was brought for damages. A justice court gave a verdict for $70 to the plaintiff, doubling the amount of the jury valuation of the dog. The case was appealed and tried at the May term of circuit court and a verdict of $30 was given plaintiff, but a new trial was granted because of an error in the instructions and now the case is on trial third time. As usual a dog case in the court is one that is bitterly fought and one that piles up expense on both parties, no matter who wins in the end.

The large number has caused a congestion in the high school building and it has been found necessary to use the general assembly room for a study hall, as the regular study hall was found to be wholly inadequate to hold the students. Total enrollment of all grades was 1035 the first week of school.
