North Callaway girls basketball's Blevins and Shryock make all-district

For the second straight season, their final as teammates this year, North Callaway Ladybirds Riley Blevins and Natalie Shryock earned all-district.

Blevins guided the Ladybirds in her last campaign with 12.4 points per game, 5.8 rebounds per game, five assists per game, 2.9 steals per game and a team-high 2.1 blocks per game this season. She made 58-of-76 free throws (76 percent), 53-of-179 3s (30 percent) and 111-of-288 field goals (39 percent).

William Woods baseball splits first two in AMC-opening series vs. CBC

The William Woods Owls' starters punched out nine batters as they split the first two games of their American Midwest Conference opening series against the Central Baptist Mustangs Friday at Rock Bridge High School.

The doubleheader was originally scheduled to be played at Owls Field, but it was too wet, so William Woods moved the games to Rock Bridge with a 10 a.m. first pitch instead of noon.


Humane Society to host Puppy Easter Egg Hunt

The Callaway County Humane Society is preparing to host a Puppy Easter Egg Hunt.

The event will be 2 p.m. March 24 at the dog park behind Westminster College in Fulton.

South Callaway baseball wins fourth straight vs. North Callaway; Daugherty Ks eight

All-state Bulldog Dane Daugherty struck out as many batters as his No. 8, going 4⅓ innings and earning the win Saturday at South Callaway's baseball field.

"My curveball is breaking well, had my slider working and I had Owen (Rees) behind the dish again -- it just felt like last year," Daugherty, who allowed four runs on nine hits and a hit by pitch, said.


South Callaway High School recognizes top students

South Callaway High School recognized 29 students during Academic Recognition Week.

A release states the high school recognized 10-12 grade students who maintained a cumulative 3.75 GPA March 11-15.

Chamber of Commerce to host Fulton City Council candidate forum

The Callaway Chamber of Commerce will host a forum for candidates running for the Fulton City Council.

The candidate forum will be 5-6 p.m. March 27 at the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, 510 Market St. in Fulton.


Chism's peace officer license revoked

The Missouri Department of Public Safety revoked former Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism's peace officer license.

Department of Public Safety Communications Director Mike O'Connell confirmed Chism's peace officer license status in a phone call Tuesday. O'Connell said state statute prevented him from providing further details.

William Woods begins field renovations

William Woods University began renovations of Firley Soccer Field to support men's and women's soccer, as well as the recently established men's football and women's flag football.

WWU announced the renovations in January.


ALDI coming to Fulton

ALDI will soon be coming to Fulton.

William Woods University announced Wednesday 2.9 acres of university property was sold to ALDI for the purpose of constructing a new facility.

Holts Summit man charged with possessing child pornography

A Holts Summit was charged with possessing child pornography after an incident led to a search of his residence.

Online court documents state witness one called Callaway County Joint Communications around 8:01 p.m. Sunday stating "her niece had been caught sending nude photographs to an adult."


Westminster students impacted by discolored water

Water main issues that have impacted students living on-campus at Westminster College will soon be fixed.

Students living at Weigle Hall -- an upperclassmen residence hall that houses 24 residents-- have complained to Westminster College officials about conditions at the hall.

Fulton, Hermann Wurst Haus receive 24 awards at trade show

The Fulton Wurst Haus and Hermann Wurst Haus won a combined 24 awards at the 85th annual Missouri Association of Meat Processors convention and trade show.

The event was March 1-3 in Columbia.
