Fulton girls T&F’s Begemann earns gold and silver in Montgomery County Early Invite

MONTGOMERY CITY--Emmy Begemann, Addison Milius and Reagan Echelmeier earned gold medals for Fulton girls track and field in the Montgomery County Early Invite Tuesday at Montgomery County High School.

Sparked by its six medalist placings, including two from Begemann, Fulton placed second out of eight teams. The Hornets registered 103 points, 106½ away from Washington, who swept the team titles, and North Callaway finished fourth with 77.

Fulton's first-place showings were Begemann in the triple jump (31 feet and 9.89 inches), Milius in the 300-meter hurdles (53.52 seconds) and Echelmeier in the javelin (108-0.06).

The Hornets' silver medalists were Begemann in the long jump (15-0.31), the 4x800 relay (11:14.77) and Audrey Arnold in the high jump (5-1.02)

The Ladybirds also tallied three second-place performances: Pressley Schmauch in the 3,200 run (12:43.53), Alexandra Craighead in the 100 hurdles (:19.84) and Kymorie Myers in the discus (102-7.1).

Rounding out North Callaway's five medalist displays were its bronze finishers, Schmauch in the 1,600 run (5:57.67) and Braelyn Kuda in the 100 hurdles (:20.18).

Fulton participates in the California Quad at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at California High School.

The Ladybirds compete in the New Bloomfield Wildcat Relays at 2 p.m. Friday at New Bloomfield High School.
