Fulton boys T&F’s Wagner-Yates wins pole vault in Montgomery County Early Invite

MONTGOMERY CITY -- Will Wagner-Yates won the pole vault for Fulton boys track and field in the Montgomery County Early Invite Tuesday at Montgomery County High School.

Fulton placed sixth out of eight teams with 61 points, 168½ behind first-place Washington, and North Callaway finshed eighth with 31½.

The lone gold medalist between the Hornets and Thunderbirds, Wagner-Yates won the pole vault at 11 feet and 7.76 inches.

Noah Combs in the 1,600-meter run (4 minutes and 45.51 seconds) and Kai Foster in the 3,200 run (10:35.84) each placed third, accounting for the rest of Fulton's three medalist performances.

North Callaway notched three bronze finishes for its three medals: 4x200 relay (1:48.29), 4x400 relay (3:49.52) and Isiah Craighead in the javelin (154-7.12).

The Hornets participate in the California Quad at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at California High School.

The Thunderbirds compete in the New Bloomfield Wildcat Relays at 2 p.m. Friday at New Bloomfield High School.
