ST. CHARLES -- Lilli Lewis achieved a milestone no South Callaway Lady Bulldog had done before, winning a district championship in the Class 1 District 2 tournament Friday and Saturday at St. Charles West High School.

Competing at 190 pounds, Lewis scored 30 points and went 4-0 with four pins. In a Callaway County championship bout, Lewis (42-3) won by fall (1:16) over Fulton's Carly Foster (23-11).

Dalyna Hargis joined Lewis as a two-time state qualifier for South Callaway, placing third at 120 with 22 points, a 4-1 record and four pins. In the third-place match, Hargis (32-4) won by fall (3:36) over St. Charles's Syria Bell (39-11).

"I am very proud of how the girls wrestled," South Callaway girls wrestling coach Micah Benningfield said. "Brackets were tough, and the girls listened and fought. Nice day for both girls."

South Callaway took 13th out of 33 with 56 points as a team. The top three teams were Brookfield in first with 153½ points, Southern Boone in second with 131 and Wright City in third with 110.

Outside Lewis and Hargis, the Lady Bulldogs' Lotus Gwaltney (115) scored four points and went 1-2 with a pin, and Shelby Doster (130) tallied zero points and went 0-2.
