South Callaway girls T&F’s Pahl wins 100 with PR at Osage Varsity Invitational

OSAGE BEACH -- Class 2 100-meter dash runner-up Reece Pahl of South Callaway girls track and field earned gold in the 100 with a personal record of 12.03 seconds in the Osage Varsity Invitational Tuesday at Osage High School.

Pahl's first-place finish in the 100 was more impressive since she did it against second-place Hallsville's Marissa Austene and won by .42. Last Thursday in the South Callaway Invitational, Austene won the 100 at 13.31, while Pahl placed second at 13.63.

Not only did Pahl win an event, but she also earned half of the Lady Bulldogs' six medalist finishes. Pahl took third in the long jump at 15 feet and 9.37 inches and fourth in the 400 with a PR of 1:06.89.

Lotus Gwaltney also medaled and set a PR in the 400 for South Callaway, placing third at 1:06.88. She also medaled and PR'd in a relay, the anchor on the Lady Bulldogs' 4x200 team of Kesley Wehterell, McKenzie Laughlin and Madelyn Radmacher, which finished fourth at 2:03.38.

Wetherell joined Gwaltney with one individual and one relay medalist finish, finishing fourth in the high jump at 4-7.12.

Aside from its medalist PRs, South Callaway's career displays were Stella Meloy in the 100 dash (14.46) and triple jump (28-4.16), Gwaltney in the 200 dash (30.33), Shelby Lindholm in the 300 hurdles (1:02.01) and the Lady Bulldogs' 4x100 squad of Wetherell, Laughlin, Radmacher and Gwaltney (57.67).

"What a wonderful night for a track meet," South Callaway track and field coach Stephen Wisch said. "Very grateful for the hard work of our young people and how they got after it tonight!"

Fulton competed in the meet, but the Hornets sent their junior varsity team to gain experience.

The Lady Bulldogs have their second meet in as many days when they compete in the Guy Rush Memorial Track Meet at 4 p.m. today at California High School in California, Missouri.

Fulton participates in the Ron Whittaker Bulldog Invitational at 4 p.m. Friday at Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri.
