South Callaway boys T&F medals in seven events at Osage Varsity Invitational

OSAGE BEACH -- South Callaway boys track and field recorded seven medalist finishes in the Osage Varsity Invitational Tuesday at Osage High School.

Fulton also competed in the meet, but it sent its junior varsity team to get experience.

To medal in an event, a top-four finish was required.

Lee Butcher led the Bulldogs in the field events, placing second in the discus (118 feet and 9.59 inches) and fourth in the shot put (40-6.61).

South Callaway's 4x100-meter relay team of Tayber Gray, Cole Brewer, Colten Crocker and Ethan Munford took third at 46.81 seconds.

Crocker had a career performance in the pole vault, setting a personal record and taking third at 13-8.96.

Gray also set a PR in a medalist performance, finishing fourth in the 200 dash at 23.82. He also placed fourth in the long jump, leaping 18-1.32.

The Bulldogs' 4x200 squad of Nathan Twitchell, Isiah Shirley, Caleb Hubbard and Brewer finished fourth at 1:36.66.

Fulton earned its lone medal at invite, boys or girls, when its 4x800 team of Owen White, Kenny Spencer, Brin Shadbolt and Gabe Yancey finished fourth at 11:54.77.

Outside of its two medalist PRs, South Callaway's career showings were Brewer in the 100 dash (11.7), Gray in the 400 (54.13), DongKyu Kim in the 800 run (2:37.2), Liam Quick in the 800 (2:48.29), Aaron Henry in the 300 hurdles (58.34), Andrew Bell in the triple jump (37-0.88) and Nathan Russell in the triple jump (36-2.25).

The Bulldogs have their second meet in as many days when they return for the Guy Rush Memorial Track Meet at 4 p.m. today at California High School in California, Missouri.

The Hornets compete in the Ron Whittaker Bulldog Invitational at 4 p.m. Friday at Mexico High School in Mexico, Missouri.
