Fulton MS boys T&F wins home invite

FULTON, Mo. -- Fulton boys track and field won the Fulton Middle School Invitational Monday at Fulton High School.

The Hornets scored 123½ points, three more than second-place Laura Speed Elliott. Winfield placed third with 100 points, Callaway County schools New Bloomfield finished fourth with 74½, and South Callaway fifth with 68.

Holden Cook guided Fulton to wins in the 800-meter run (2 minutes and 24.1 seconds) and the 1,600 (5:28.6).

Ezequiel Mendez earned silver in the 400 dash (59.14) and bronze in the 100 (12.84) for the Hornets.

Fulton medaled in three relay events: the Hornets' 4x200 team of Corey Nelson, Parker Sparks, Keygen Young and Tyson Weyers (1:53) and 4x400 of Keyaire Thomas, Mendez, Chase Hartgrove and Xzavier Berry (4:22.4) placed second, and their 4x800 squad of Nate Rosenbum, Randy Kite, Brodie Moreland and Jackson See (12:08.7) took third.

Young added an individual silver medal to his relay, placing second in the triple jump at 34 feet and 10.11 inches.

Ansel Diekamp took third in both throwing events for Fulton, tossing the discus 108-5.57 and shot put 33-8.72.

Nathanael Huskey joined Diekamp as a Hornets field event third-place finisher, going 7-7.34 in the pole vault.

Fulton's next meet is the Callaway County Relays at 2 p.m. next Tuesday at New Bloomfield High School.
