Holts Summit to host 13th annual Mayor’s Cup golf tournament

The 13th annual Holt Summit Mayor's Cup Golf Tournament will tee off on Oct. 2.

The entry fee is $440 for a team of four and also includes lunch. Team registration is due by Sept. 25.

Registration will start at 7 a.m. with a shot gun start at 8 a.m. An award presentation and lunch will follow the golf tournament.

Brandon Ruediger, Holts Summit city administrator, said the golf tournament had its biggest turnout last year, with 21 teams participating in the 2022 golf tournament.

So far, 17 teams have signed up for the 2023 golf tournament, Ruediger said.

All profits from the golf tournament will go back into a special events fund, Ruediger said, adding the golf tournament raised around $6,400 after expenses in 2022.

The special events fund is used to finance events such as Trunk or Treat, an Easter egg hunt and fireworks festival.

While some of the city-sponsored events are self-sufficient, Ruediger said events like the fireworks festival cost more to put on due to "increased cost from vendors."

The golf tournament will take place at Meadow Lake Acres Country Club, 2600 Meadow Lake Drive in New Bloomfield.

Ruediger said the tournament was previously held at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton. Last year, there were issues with Tanglewood's course that would have impacted their ability to host the tournament.

The 2022 tournament was switched to Meadow Lake Acres Country Club last minute, but Ruediger said organizers received a "positive response" from the location change, and hopes to replicate the response this year.
