NEW BLOOMFIELD -- The New Bloomfield Lady Wildcats won their first game in nine days, beating the Rolla Lady Bulldogs 9-3 in their Pink Out game Monday at New Bloomfield's softball field.
New Bloomfield (8-6) never trailed after it took the lead in the top of the first on Myah Briggs' RBI single. The Lady Wildcats plated another two runs in the first inning when Macie Abbott hit an RBI double to left field and Peityn Thomas an RBI two-bagger to left field.
Briggs extended New Bloomfield's advantage to 4-0 in the second inning, driving in a run on her sacrifice fly to left field.
The Lady Wildcats had another three-run inning to go up 7-0 in the third. Maycie Goff lined an RBI single, Bella Talbot an RBI double to left field and Avarie Edwards an RBI groundout to the pitcher.
Rolla (6-12) made it a five-run game in the top of the fourth thanks to an RBI single and a one-run double to right field.
Bringing its lead back to seven runs, Briggs smacked a two-run double to center field in the fifth inning.
The Lady Bulldogs plated the contest's final run on an RBI double to left field in the seventh inning.
Briggs led New Bloomfield at the plate, going 2-for-3 with a double, single, three RBI and a run.
Talbot, Thomas and Abbott recorded a double to account for the rest of the Lady Wildcats' four extra-base hits.
Ashlyn Peters stole two bases, and Talbot swiped one.
Pitching all seven innings, Thomas earned the win for New Bloomfield. She allowed three runs (one earned) on 10 hits and struck out six.
New Bloomfield (1-2 Show-Me Conference) hosts Eugene (6-6, 2-2 Show-Me) in a Show-Me contest for Senior Night at 5 p.m. Thursday. The Lady Wildcats beat the Lady Eagles 7-0 in Eugene last season.
