Tebbetts Picnic, an annual event held in Tebbetts, is set to take place September 22–24.
This picnic is made possible by community support and sponsors, in which the purpose of the picnic is to bring together the community and raise money for the community center, along with the park area.
Sam Richards, head of the committee for the picnic, said several events will be part of the picnic.
"There are numerous things happening that weekend, with a favorite being the kids tractor pull, along with live music," Richards said.
Events will include a car show on Friday, Saturday being filled with tractor and car shows, fruit pie contests, a Katy Trail Mural Dedication, a 5k, with Sunday ending in an open church.
Live music will be played all days of the picnic.
"The support of the community has always been amazing; with Tebbetts Methodist Church always helping, individuals of the community, and our Golden Sponsors, who have donated 500 dollars or more," Richards said.
He said the picnic started in the early 1950's, and has had a long history in the community.
Tebbetts Picnic has been a long-standing tradition in the community that has routinely entertained generations of people.
"The money raised is used to maintain the buildings and park area, along with the community center itself," Richards said.
Along with this, many groups and businesses in the community will use the community center for meetings, with the community center being there for when the community needs it.
"The amount of people to come to this picnic has grown, however, we do not have a number of people who come, due to not charging a fee to enter," said Richards.
Richards hopes for as many people to come as they can.
"How we can have free entrance to the picnic is the money we make off the food, which speaks to how good the food is," Richards said.
The food being served will be mutton, fish, pork steaks, funnel cakes, homemade ice cream and more.
Along with kids' games, raffles, silent auction, and more to do, there is something to do for everyone at this Tebbetts Picnic.
