The Callaway Chamber of Commerce will host its first Show-Me Innovation Teen Pitch Competition Oct. 24.
Tamara Tateosian, executive director at the Callaway Chamber of Commerce, said the teen competition will be "very similar" to their adult and collegiate pitch competitions. Participants will develop a plan to open a business in Callaway County to present to a panel of judges. The panel will then select a first and second place winner, Tateosian said.
Applications to enter the pitch competition close 5 p.m. Oct. 2. Presentations are due 5 p.m. Oct. 23.
Participation is limited to high school students of North Callaway, South Callaway, New Bloomfield and Fulton school districts and Missouri School for the Deaf students. The Chamber of Commerce will select three students from each district to participate.
The Chamber of Commerce will provide webinars to help prepare participants for the competition.
Tateosian said the goal of the pitch competition is to "nurture that entrepreneurial spirit" with teens in the community.
The competition will be 8 a.m. - 1 p.m. Oct. 24 with a location to be announced.
