Coldwell Banker, Boyd & Boyd hosting coat drive

Coldwell Banker Niedergerke & Co and Boyd & Boyd are having a coat drive through the month of November.

The Fulton businesses are accepting new or gently used winter clothing to help others stay warm this winter, for both adults and children.

Christina Niedergerke, broker owner of Coldwell Banker Niedergerke & Co, explained the reason for hosting the coat drive.

"We believe in giving back to the community, wanting to do as much volunteer work and sponsoring as we can," she said.

The businesses felt this would be a way to help people. They are cooperating with SERVE to help coordinate who receives the winter clothing.

"We are taking any winter clothing throughout this drive, with the hope we are able to help as many people as possible," Niedergerke said.

Winter clothing can include beanies, gloves, winter coats, jackets, sweatpants and numerous other things that could keep people warm.

Niedergerke said this is the first time they have hosted the coat drive, but hope to make it an annual event.

"So far, we have received over 100 coats, along with other items we have not counted yet," Niedergerke said. "The drive has done great so far."

She explained that the donations they have received have been abundant, where the drive has only been going on for a week.

If wanting to donate, winter clothing can be dropped off at either Coldwell Banker Niedergerke & Co (1004 Bluff St.) or Boyd & Boyd (204 East 5th St.) in Fulton.

Donations are accepted through Nov. 30.
