Two Callaway County churches to collect gifts for Operation Christmas Child
Two Callaway County churches will serve as drop-off locations for Operation Christmas Child.
First Baptist Church, 701 Court Street in Fulton, and Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church, 10864 Platinum Drive in Holts Summit will collect shoebox gifts Nov. 13-20 during National Collection Week.
South Callaway wins first Callaway Cup postseason game in five years
South Callaway forced four turnovers, and the Bulldogs didn't turn it over in the second half, winning their second Callaway Cup game this season Friday at South Callaway's football field.
"Obviously, when we turn the ball over, it's a lot harder to play good offense, but I was really proud of how our kids handled right?" South Callaway football coach Stephen Wisch said.

Fulton's Mayfield wins district title, and girls qualify as team for first time in 30 years
Fulton's Emery Mayfield won the girls' Class 4 District 2 individual title with a school record time, and the Hornets' girls' team achieved its first state qualification since 1993 Saturday at Nixa High School.
Making both those accomplishments more impressive, Fulton moved up a class and had to take a 173-mile bus ride from Fulton to Nixa.
Fulton ends Mexico's season by mercy rule as Ayers nets six
In downpouring rain and the chilliest weather they've played in all year, the Fulton Hornets won by their widest margin this season as all-state forward Jayden Ayers netted six goals Saturday at Southern Boone High School.
"I think the big thing today for us was our big talk was that we needed to come out and be focused the whole game and needed to be locked in," Fulton boys soccer coach Joel Henley said. "I really feel like that's what we did. We, from the beginning, came out, and we were locked in and focused on what we need to do and what we need to accomplish."

Callaway County Sheriff's Office arrests two juveniles, assists in two area pursuits
Callaway County Sheriff's Office arrested two juveniles and assisted in two other area cases over the weekend.
Two juveniles were arrested early Friday morning following a pursuit in Fulton.
According to a release, "a Callaway County deputy attempted to stop a black Nissan Altima for traveling the wrong direction on Court Street in Fulton."
Crane's Country Store to host Meet the Vendor Day
Crane's Country Store, a general store with a variety of products, is holding a Meet the Vendor Day November 4 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Crane's Country Store is located at 10675 Old U.S. Highway 40 in Williamsburg.
The purpose of the event is to bring in sales representatives of the brands that are sold in the store, to educate and talk about their products.

Brick District hosts annual Trick-or-Treat on the Bricks
Tuesday's cold weather didn't stop local trick-or-treaters from filling the Brick District for the annual Trick-or-Treat on the Bricks.
This year's event was expanded to include the Old Callaway County Courthouse. Trick-or-treaters began at the corner of 5th and Court, then followed monster footprints on the ground up Nichols Street, across 6th Street and down Court Street. The route ended at the Cornerstone Building on 6th and Court.
Candy bags were handed out -- provided by the Brick District -- at the Courthouse.
Chamber to host Show-Me Innovation Pitch Competition, teen competition
The Callaway Chamber of Commerce will host the Show-Me Innovation Pitch Competition and Show-Me Innovation Teen Pitch Competition on Thursday.
The pitch competition allows entrepreneurs to pitch their ideas for a chance to receive prize money.

South Callaway Band brings home 19 awards across three competitions
South Callaway High School's Bulldog Pride Band received 19 awards across three marching band competitions this season.
According to a release from South Callaway High School, the band had "a very successful marching season" competing in Wright City, Ashland and at the state level.
South Callaway received six awards at the Wright City Marching Festival on Sept. 23. The band received best field show in visuals and music, first place field show, first place for parade, first place for indoor drumline and second place for indoor colorguard.
Missouri School for the Deaf students clean park, plant tulip bulbs
Missouri School for the Deaf students planted tulip bulbs at Smith Branch Park on Wednesday.
Six students and three faculty members cleaned a planting area in Smith Branch Park before planting the tulip bulbs.

Trial, hearing scheduled for suspended sheriff
Callaway County's suspended sheriff Clay Chism will have a jury trial for a charge of driving while intoxicated and a hearing for his peace officer license in January.
The jury trial for Chism will be at 9 a.m. Jan 4 at the Randolph County Courthouse, according to online court documents. A pre-trial conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. Dec. 18.
Chism is charged with misdemeanors driving while intoxicated and resisting arrest, detention or stop.
An arrest has been made in the murder of Debra Dickens, over 21 years after her death.
Dickens' husband, Harold Dickens, was indicted for murder in the first degree on Wednesday.
According to a release by the Callaway County Sheriff's Department, the cold case was brought to a grand jury by Callaway County Prosecuting Attorney Ben Miller.
