Callaway Youth Expo announces calendar of events

The Callaway Youth Expo (CYE) recently announced the list of events for the upcoming expo in July.

The expo takes place at the CYE Fairgrounds in Auxvasse.

The event will be from July 11-July 15.

On Tuesday, July 11, events will begin at noon with 4-H/FFA royalty interviews. The royalty contest will be at 1 p.m.

FFA exhibit registration will be from 4-5 p.m. The hams/bacon check-in will also be at 4 p.m.

4-H conference judging will be from 4-8 p.m. All contestants must be checked in for judging by 7 p.m.

Events on Wednesday, July 12, will begin at 9 a.m. with goats weigh-in. The goat show will begin at noon.

Food stands will open at 11 a.m. They will close at 9 p.m. These are also the hours of operation for Thursday.

Sheep weigh-in will begin at 3 p.m., with the sheep show beginning at 6 p.m.

The 4-H activity tent will open at 4:30 p.m. It will be open until 7 p.m. These are also the hours of operation for Thursday and Friday.

Registration for the little mr. and miss. contest will open at 5 p.m., with the contest beginning at 5:30.

On Thursday, July 13, the first event of the day will be the swine weigh-in at noon. After the weigh-in, public speaking and 4-H demonstrations will take place at City Park.

The super farmer contest will be at 2 p.m.

The slip-n-slide kickball will be at 4 p.m.

The breeding swine show will begin at 6 p.m. This will be followed by the market swine and pee-wee show.

The first event on Friday, July 14, will be at 7:30 a.m. when dairy must be in place for competition. Breeding beef must be in place by 8 a.m.

Food stands will open at 8 a.m. and close at 10 p.m.

The shows will begin at 9 a.m. with the diary show. The breeding beef show will follow at 10 a.m.

A cornhole tournament will be at 2 p.m.

Market beef must be in place at 3 p.m., with steer weigh-in at 4 p.m.

The bucket calf show will begin at 6 p.m. This will be followed by the market beef show to conclude events for the day.

Saturday, July 15, is the final day of events for the Callaway Youth Expo. Food stands will open for the day at 8 a.m. They will remain open until 10 p.m.

The rabbit show and poultry show will both begin at 9 a.m. Rabbits and poultry must be in-place for the competition by 8 a.m.

Registration for the horse show begins at 10 a.m. The horse show will follow.

Registration for the kids, teen and adult pedal tractor pull at City Park will open at noon. The tractor pull will follow at 1 p.m.

The check-in time for the pie judging contest is 2 p.m. The pie contest will be at 3 p.m.

At 4 p.m., the show arena will host the children's small animal show.

The livestock and ham sale will begin at 7 p.m. Registration for buyers for the sale will open at 5 p.m. and close at 6:45 p.m.

CYE has been fundraising to build new facilities at the expo fairgrounds. CYE is planning to build a new concession stand and restroom area at the fairgrounds.

Fundraising began in Nov. 2022 with a goal of $300,000.

The fairgrounds recently received a donation from Kingdom Telephone for a new sound system. The donation is worth approximately $12,000.

The new sound system will be used at the CYE, as well as horse shows and the Auxvasse Rodeo on Aug. 4-5.

CYE also recently hosted a Swine Jackpot Show at the fairgrounds. Funds raised from the concession stand sales and entry fees went towards CYE construction fundraising.
