Local high schools celebrate graduation

Local Callaway County high schools recently celebrated the Class of 2023, with several ceremonies held last week.

Fulton High School graduated 134 students at Friday's ceremony. The class speaker was Carter Meyerhoff, and the guest speaker was Emily Omohundro.

Cum Laude was awarded to Dennis McGregory III

Magna Cum Laude was awarded to: Calli Ballard, Bailey Easley, Taylor Hickerson, Lucinda Hill, Grace Ousley, Aidan Romero and Jonna Vanzetti.

Summa Cum Laude was awarded to: Jayna Davison, Pauline Fouts, Aidan Haglund, Charlotte Hansert, William Harper, Kadence Harvey, Olivia Huff, Viridian Lowe, Carter Meyerhoff, Makenna Milam, Daniel Moak, Ahmad Sherzad and Quiara Walton.

The Missouri School for the Deaf graduated two students at Friday's ceremony. The two students were David Hunt and Maxwell Samborski.

During the ceremony, the graduates participated in many school traditions, including adding a ribbon to an oversized "class key" then passing it on to the upcoming senior class and touching the school's newel post thrice.

The guest speaker for the ceremony was Christopher Moreland, a University of Texas Health doctor.

New Bloomfield High School graduated 36 students at Friday's ceremony. The class speaker was Raegan Smart, and the guest speaker was Brooke Johansen.

Valedictorian was Brinley Dysart, who was also the only student awarded Summa Cum Laude.

Salutatorian was Avery Nicholas.

Magna Cum Laude was awarded to: Emaline Clark, Eve Massman, Avery Nichols, Raegan Smart and Emma Suedmeyer.

Cum Laude was awarded to: Brendon Carter, Nicholas Gordon, Briana Jackson, Liberty Larsen, Nathan Mueller, Brooklynn Smith, Emma Verdugo and Harlee Williams.

North Callaway High School graduated 86 students at Thursday's ceremony. The class speakers were Sarah Chapman, Alana Todd and Trenton Lairmore.

The valedictorian was Ellie Pezold.

The salutatorian was Sarah Chapman.

South Callaway High School graduated 59 students at last Sunday's ceremony. The class speaker was Rylie Blankenship, and the guest speaker was Elise (Frazee) Bartley.

The valedictorian was Cassidy Mealy.

The salutatorian was Alaina McCray.
