Dimond qualifies for finals in 3000m steeplechase, four compete at Day 1 of NAIA National Championships

MARION, Ind. -- The William Woods University women's track and field team had four compete in two events on Day 1 of the NAIA National Championships. Ellie Dimond and Harley Nale competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, and Ellie Emerson and Natalie Thomas competed in the javelin.

Dimond placed ninth in the 3,000 steeplechase with a 10-minute, 58.69-second time, qualifying for the finals. Finals take place at noon CST Friday.

Nale placed 18th with an 11:17.41 time.

In the javelin, Emerson placed 10th with a 135-foot, 3.62-inch throw. She threw her best on her first throw. Thomas placed 19th with a 128-09.28 throw. She hit the mark on her final throw.

Katie French competes in the shot put on Day 2 of the NAIA National Championships. Her event starts at 1:30 p.m. CST.
