A New Bloomfield woman faces drug charges after her arrest last week.
Ashley Shockley, 33, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and resisting arrest for a felony.
A Cole County Sheriff's Office probable cause statement said deputies arrived at Shockley's residence Thursday morning to locate her for four outstanding warrants. A deputy contacted a male there who said he did not know where Shockley was, though the deputy reportedly saw a woman walking through the house. The deputy allegedly found Shockley hiding in a closet while searching the residence.
She asked for a cigarette as she was being taken into custody, and the other resident got a pack for her. Inside the pack, the deputies reportedly found a small jewelers bag with a crystalline substance inside, which reportedly tested positive for meth. She said she had gotten the pack from a friend.
Court records show Shockley had several warrants and convictions for drug charges and other offenses.
