Four North Callaway baseball players make all-district

Four North Callaway Thunderbirds were included in MSHSAA's Class 3 District 7 all-district baseball teams, North Callaway R1 School District announced via Facebook Friday.

North Callaway's Braydn O'Neal made first-team all-district, Matthew Weber and Sam Pezold second team and Jordan Fishburn honorable mention.

O'Neal, who will play college baseball for NAIA Columbia College, recorded a team-high .455 batting average, 30 runs, 30 hits, nine doubles, five triples, 23 stolen bases and 48 assists this season; he also tied for a team-high 31 RBI.

In a team-high 80 at-bats, Weber tied for the team lead in RBI with 31 and home runs with one this season. Additionally, he had a .312 batting average, 25 hits (10 extra-base hits), eight steals and a .963 fielding percentage.

Joining Weber on the second team, Pezold made a team-high 10 pitching appearances, going 2-3 this season. He allowed 22 runs (12 earned) on 24 hits (four extra-base hits) and eight walks while striking out 32 in 25⅔ innings.

At the plate, Pezold notched a .276 batting average, 16 hits (five extra-base hits), 12 RBI and 10 runs in 70 plate appearances (58 at-bats) this season.

Last but not least, Fishburn had an excellent year defensively, recording a team-high 143 putouts while finishing second on the Thunderbirds with a .973 fielding percentage. Offensively, Fishburn tallied a team-high 25 walks while recording a .311 batting average, 19 hits (eight extra-base hits), 14 RBI and 25 runs in 88 plate appearances (61 at-bats).
