The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) recently completed a review of the Callaway Plant's steam generator tubes.

The plant submitted steam generator tube inspection report to the NRC in the spring of 2022. Followup documents from the plant have supplemented the report.

The NRC reviewed the submitted report and determined there are no technical issues that warrant follow-up actions.

The Callaway Plant has four steam generators (SGs) at the plant, and they were installed in 2005. In the report to the NRC, the plant provided "the scope, extent, methods, and results of the SG tube inspections," the NRC report states.

Based on the information provided, the NRC observed that the plant performed visual inspections of the steam drums in three of the SGs.

The NRC also observed all hot-leg tubes with sludge indications from a sludge analysis were inspected.

NRC staff concluded that no follow-up action is necessary "since the inspections appear to be consistent with the objective of detecting potential tube degradation and the inspection results appear to be consistent with industry operating experience at similarly designed and operated units," the report states.
