South Callaway, New Bloomfield track and field advance athletes to state

SHELBINA -- South Callaway notched six, and New Bloomfield two state qualifying finishes in the Class 2 Sectional 2 meet Saturday at South Shelby High School.

Reece Pahl accounted for half of South Callaway's state-qualifying placements, winning the 100-meter dash (12.71 seconds), 200 dash (personal record of 26.32) and long jump (17 feet, 1.12 inches).

Rounding out South Callaway's state finishes, Lacey Matthews won the pole vault (9-08.14), Colten Crocker took second in the pole vault (12-03.64) and Nathan Russell finished fourth in the javelin (145-06.46).

New Bloomfield's two state placings were Addyson Werdehausen placing second in the javelin (107-09.31) and Myah Briggs third in the 300 hurdles (48.61) -- Briggs broke New Bloomfield's 23-year-old record in the event.

South Callaway's and New Bloomfield's state qualifiers will compete in the Class 2 state meet starting Friday at Adkins Stadium in Jefferson City.
